Wood - a contemporary construction material: versatile, sustainable, recyclable and energy-efficient
In recent years there has been an increasing trend towards sustainable construction with wood as a renewable raw material. Therefore the need for specific screws for timber construction is constantly on the rise. We see our task as ensuring a continuous improvement of the properties of our wood construction screws. The asymmetric thread enables fast screwing and reduces the driving torque. Over the years, various thread features such as additional or integrated shaft cutters, milling tips, or different drilling tips have been developed to minimize splitting and wood tear-out, even in edge areas.
"In 15 to 20 years' time we will have a completely different trade. Timber construction is light years ahead!"

Student dormitory in timber construction
In Vancouver, Canada, a world record in terms of wood construction was achieved. The wood body of the 18-storey student residence of the University of British Columbia was built in only 3 months. For the construction of this high-rise building a large amount of wood construction screws from SWG Production in various lengths and with different diameters were used.
Rocky Ridge - Recreation Centre, Canada
In the more and more globalized timber construction sector our screws are increasingly used in North America. One example is the construction of the 26.000 m² recreation centre in Calgary, Canada. For its completion not only 87.000 screws from SWG Production were necessary, but also special engineering services and static calculations for the largest roof supporting structure in North America. Located in a natural park, Rocky Ridge will offer views of the mountains and city. It is expected to open to public in the first quarter of 2018.
